San Lorenzo, located in the heart of Costa Rica’s Tarrazú region, is home to over 200 coffee producers growing Caturra and Catuai varieties for CoopeTarrazú. The community lot supports local development by reinvesting premiums in roads, schools and healthcare, reflecting the producers’ commitment to collective progress. Farmers deliver their cherries to the main receiving centre or nearby roadside stations, benefiting from competitive daily prices and convenient collection. For natural processing, fully ripe, deep-red cherries are transported to the local mill by 4 pm and sun-dried for 15–30 days at temperatures between 21°C and 28°C. Quality is carefully monitored through repeated cupping: after drying, two weeks later following rest in silos, and again after four weeks, followed by a final quality check before shipping. CoopeTarrazú also promotes sustainable farming by providing free organic fertiliser made from recycled coffee pulp, using microorganisms and wood chips to reduce composting time from 300 to 100 days and turn coffee waste into a valuable resource for local farms.
The Art
When one of our own team members happens to be an incredible artist, collaborating on our new coffee packaging was a no-brainer. Designed by Anna, a barista at our Ormskirk shop, this artwork takes a vibrant, abstract turn, crafted with custom colours that complement our new branding. Whether lined up on our shelves or sitting on your kitchen counter, Anna’s design makes a stunning statement both together and on their own.
